sherlock’s scenic painter

When it comes to paintings, one of my all-time favorites is John Atkinson Grimshaw (1836 – 1893).  I had come to discover about him from this painting called Humber Dock Hull (1884), which is on the cover of one of my paperback Sherlock Holmes Mysteries books.

Some of his other fantabulous works ~

Very fantastic. I love the one with a little girl carrying something and walking alone, on the road with rocks under her feet. Excellent.
