garlic girls

I was walking past the livingroom TV set that my Pops was watching, when I saw that it was the sport of curling being played on the screen.  I gave the screen about 5 seconds of watch time, and then said, “What in the world?…  …That’s a sport?”  And then I changed the channel for my Pops to watch the news, instead.

Needless to say, I was so ignorant about the sport, that I didn’t even know that it was called “Curling”.  It just looked like crazy mopping and big stone-sliding to a ground-located bulls-eye to me.

It didn’t take long for me to find out more about the sport, after the fame of the Korean women’s curling team (known as the “Garlic Girls”) became news on The Wall Street Journal and on USA Today.

Always been a big fan of curling so I’m glad to see it gaining some popularity. The ‘garlic girls’ were amazing. So pleased for them.
